This exercise is more of an assistant to the exercise ‘Scales’. Its main focus is to familiarize the performer with the horizontal landscape of their board, but it adds a focus on the relationship between the horizontal (X) and vertical (Y) planes of motion. One hand remains static to focus on the vertical motion, while the other moves horizontally, allowing the performer to compare it to the perfect vertical technique of the static hand. It coincides with the battery exercise ‘Heights’.
